Acting on Learning Evidence through Focused Instructional Support

A global quality improvement study of instructional decisions, delivery, follow-up and equitable learner support

Learning evidence should lead to a learner-facing decision, not merely a category. Focused instructional support begins by identifying the domain, prior opportunity, error pattern or barrier and the teaching response most likely to help. Broad assessment results can signal concern, but ordinary work, learner explanation, observation and accessible focused tasks are needed to select instruction.

Strengthening Early-Grade Instruction through Diagnosis and Follow-Up

A global quality improvement study of instructional evidence, responsive teaching and learner follow-up

Early-grade diagnosis is an instructional responsibility, not a separate testing event. It should identify what a learner understands, the error or barrier that matters for the next teaching decision, and the evidence that will show whether a response helped. Enrolment, grade placement and a broad score cannot provide that specificity. Teachers need timely evidence from ordinary work, observation, conversation and brief focused tasks.
